Please tell us your story: Who you are, where are you from? Why did you start Keto? In other words, what’s the story?
Hi, I would like to tell you my keto story, but first of all, let me introduce myself – my name is Lisa, I am 34 years old, I live in Ukraine and I’ve never been skinny. )) That is why I have always been notorious and shy of myself. Also, I think I have to confess that I am not a big fan of diets, because it always seemed to me that they are effective only for the first time and it is stressful for the body. I never believed that someone can lose kilograms just with the help of diet, for me, this process seemed like “do sport a few hours daily”. Well, let’s be honest, one of the reasons why I wasn’t skinny is – I’m lazy.))
So, even with this attitude, I began to be interested in diets and found the perfect one – keto diet … And even the keto-diet I started without much faith in success, I started it rather with curiosity. In that time I did not understand how you can eat meat, sausages, cheese, eggs, and at the same time lose weight so intensively with 4-5 meals a day! It was something unbelievable for me. I looked through the entire Internet, read reviews and almost all the available information about the keto diet. So, after a few days of searching, I decided to try this diet.
What did you personally do in your first 10 days of keto?
First, I found different recipes which are good to the system of this diet, made up for myself 7 options of menus, so as not to waste time on it later. Well, started…
The transition to a new type of food, for me, was accompanied by three days of light dizziness and drowsiness. But soon everything disappeared, and a good mood and cheerfulness power came to replace it. So starting from day 4, I enjoyed being in a great mood and feeling of lightness.
Do you count and track macros strictly?
During the keto-diet, I had to calculate macros. As I am not good at different countings I was calculating it by using the online macros calculator, which is a very handy thing, by the way.
How has your life changed since going keto?
Thanks to the keto diet, I lost extra pounds and it became easier to breathe. But before, even to climb the stairs was a feat for me, not to mention the active games with my children. As well as trips to the pool or the beach were torture for me because I did not want to take off my clothes, I sat in the shade under an umbrella while my family was cooling off in cool water.
An absolutely fantastic event was the fact that I was eager to eat sweets. For reference – before without sweet, my life was not sweet to me. )) Now I do not want sweets, even when a plate of candy is standing in front of me.
What is your WHY (your drive/motivation) to keep on track and stay focused?
Perhaps you wonder what was the main reason why I started this diet?
I have to confess that my son became my biggest motivation to start a keto diet. I just wanted him not to be embarrassed by a fat mom, and so that he could be proud of his mom who can play football with him, go rollerblading or go to the beach where there are many people.
During the first month of the diet, I lost 9 kg with ease and satiety. Can you believe that?)) I ate meat, fish, cottage cheese, homemade cheese, salads and still lost weight. Now I continue to monitor the flow of carbohydrates in my body.
The principle of the diet is to reach the state of ketosis (the transition of the body to the decomposition of its own fats), and in order to achieve ketosis, it is necessary to reduce the consumption of carbohydrates and focus on the consumption of protein foods. Diet for example: scrambled eggs from three eggs with cheese and vegetables for breakfast, chicken drumsticks and salad for lunch. Coffee with cream and cheese for a snack if desired.
What is your favorite Keto recipe?
As I always adored fish, any fish dish was for me the best. But Salmon in cream sauce became my favorite keto-diet recipe. Here it is :
Spice Salmon with Fish Spices and leave for an hour in the refrigerator.
To prepare the sauce you will need:
– cream – 200 grams;
– cheese (here to your taste, you can take the usual or even Roquefort);
– salt pepper;
– half of a lemon (squeeze juice);
– fresh rosemary;
mix everything well and pour it all over the fish. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Ready! Such a dish would be the perfect lunch for you… So, Bon Appetit! ))
Finally, What advice would you give someone who is just starting out on keto?
Well, in the end, I’d like to warn you if you go on such a diet, you need to trace exactly what minimum carbohydrates are comfortable for your body and stick to it, then you will succeed! And don’t forget to drink water 😉 Try a keto diet and you will see that it is easy and tasty diet.
