Please tell us your story: Who you are, where are you from? Why did you start Keto? In other words, what’s the story?
My name is Christian Alonso and I’m live in Fort Lauderdale but I was born in Boca Raton. The way I started keto was my wife brought up this diet I never heard of. She explained it to me and she wanted to do it. Of course, she asked if I’m interest in joining with her but I’m not being force upon to do it. I thought about it for a minute and decided to do it. I’ve been trying to lose weight and everything I’ve done had little success but in the end I gain the weight back. I figured, “Why not, don’t have much as to lose. Besides the weight, of course.” Well here I am, 6 months and 45 pounds lost later, my start weight was at 285 and currently I’m at 235.
What did you personally do in your first 10 days of keto?
I ate a lot of keto friendly snack and meals. I remember that it was hard to feel full for the most part and I hated it. I just wanted to feel full but I kept going with my Keto, even though it was a struggle.
Do you count and track macros strictly?
It’s probably bad to say that I don’t. I don’t want to keep counting or a fear I might go over. I want to feel comfortable of doing keto without any limitations, with exceptions of what to eat and what not to eat.
How has your life changed since going keto?
I feel I have a lot more energy, especially when I wake up early in the mornings. I’m rarely tired and feel like I can get a lot done. Also, I don’t have anymore cravings like I used. Before keto, I used crave salty snacks like chips and popcorn. Now, I don’t. I have people who eat a lot of non-keto foods or drinks in front of me and I don’t have the desire to eat or drink any of them. My reasoning is that, I know there’s a better alternative for it.
Have you ever encountered a plateau? If so, how did you get over it?
Actually I have, at least 2 times as I remember. My wife, who is the main person who got me into keto, was doing fasting when she hit a wall, as one would say. She started to see the results and I started as. I first did the 8 hour window of eating at first and it was working for month, till again my weight started to stall. That still didn’t stop, all I did was doing “One Meal A Day” fasting which continue to this day. I rotate of doing both 8 hours and O.M.A.D., so that way my body won’t get used to it.
What is your WHY (your drive/motivation) to keep on track and stay focused?
To actually look skinny but not too skinny. I just want to get up to 180LB, so that I do not have to feel afraid of going onto the rides on Universal or Disney. I remember one time when I was at Universal, it was my then fiance, a friend of mine, and his girlfriend, went to on the Mummy Ride. As we approached it and I try to get on it, I couldn’t fit on the ride. We had to wait for the coaster, to see if I’ll be able to actually fit, which I did but I couldn’t enjoy the moment. I had a fear that I was going to fly off of it. Since I lost a lot of weight now, it won’t be a big problem to ride on any of the rollercoaster and the fear that comes with it.
What is your favorite Keto recipe?
Mashed loaded Cauliflower. I love mashed potatoes and broke my heart that I couldn’t have any. Made the recipe and I was back in forever. Finally, What advice would you give someone who is just starting out on keto?
To stick with it and don’t give up. You may break down and have some crabs, which is fine. Just get back on the saddle and keep going. We’re all human and no body is perfect. Believe in yourself.
